Candyland Couture: A Condom Fashion Show with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic

Candyland Couture: A Condom Fashion Show with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic

If you thought condoms and couture couldn’t mix, think again. Recently, SHAPE Tri-County and Planned Parenthood South Atlantic teamed up to host a one-of-a-kind condom fashion show with support from ONE® Condoms. This year’s theme, Candyland, brought color, creativity, and a whole lot of energy to the runway, because everything’s sweeter when wrapped!

Student teams and local participants came together to craft bold, beautiful condom couture. From Mr. Mint to King Candy, each costume was a hand-made celebration of both style and sexual health. Designs were judged on creativity, runway presence, costume accuracy, and even a Q&A portion. Prizes were awarded for first, second, and third place, along with an Audience Choice Award that had the crowd buzzing.

One especially touching moment from the show came from an audience member, a mom of a teenage son who shared that he went home and told his grandmother about the show. When she asked if it was really meant for someone his age, he told her, “Absolutely.” It was a powerful reminder of how important it is to normalize conversations about sexual health at every age and how fun, community-driven events like this can help make that happen!

Another behind-the-scenes highlight came during the design phase, when one participant spent several days working on their piece in a public library. Other guests joined in, offering supplies, ideas, and support. A librarian even used their Cricut machine to help bring the final costume to life including a crown made entirely of condoms! A nearby quilter summed it up best: “I wanted to tell my friends what you were working on, but I know no one would believe me.”

At ONE® Condoms, we’re proud to support events that turn education into celebration. Whether it’s breaking down stigma, promoting safer sex, or just sparking joy through creativity, this fashion show proved that sexual health advocacy can be powerful, playful, and totally unforgettable.
