Beyond Bands: How ONE® on Stage Is Tapping into the Entire Music Scene

ONE® On Stage started in 2024 with a simple idea: partner with bands to make condoms as accessible as a concert ticket. But ideas evolve. We quickly learned that the entire music ecosystem—from the merch table to your local venue to record shops—is a powerful network for building a healthier community.

Over the past few months, ONE® on Stage has grown beyond just bands. We’re teaming up with music venues, record shops, harm reduction orgs, and other partners to make sexual health resources more accessible, and to keep the conversation going long after the band unplugs.

What Is ONE® On Stage?

At its core, ONE® On Stage is about meeting people where they’re at. The program hooks up bands and music industry folk with custom ONE® products to distribute at shows, in shops, and at community events. In exchange, we promote their music, events, and causes.

It’s a win-win: fans get free protection, bands and small businesses get exposure, and everyone helps normalize those sometimes-awkward (but super important) conversations about sexual health.

Shoutout to some of our incredible band partners who’ve been leading the charge, like Boof and Earth Altar – musicians who care as much about their communities as they do about their music.

Why Non-Band Partners Work

While bands are the heart of ONE® On Stage, we’ve found that expanding to other corners of the music scene helps us reach even more people. Here’s why:

Venues & Record Shops = Community Hubs

Shows can be loud, crowded, and chaotic—not always the easiest place for a real talk about safer sex. But community spaces and vinyl shops? They’re spaces where people hang out, browse, and actually have time to chat. Leaving condoms out means folks can grab them casually, no pressure.

“I like being part of something bigger with a purpose! I love metal and community. I love live music. I love bringing the elements together. I was excited when Howling Giant brought [the condoms] into my store after a show, and I instantly asked how I could be part of ONE® on Stage!” - Athena, owner of Amplified Records, Louisville, KY

“It’s important for us to have a positive impact on our community and we believe that such messaging at an inclusive alternative space like ours helps promote safer sex. We also think it’s a good way to connect with people where they’re at in an engaging way.” - Matt, co-owner of Transplants Brewing Company & Venue, Palmdale, CA

Harm Reduction Orgs Are Already in the Scene

Groups like SafeScene, The Lowdown, and Start Today are already at shows and festivals handing out Narcan, STI and drug testing kits, and other harm reduction supplies. Adding condoms to the mix is a natural fit, because sexual health is harm reduction.

“Live music events are a place to connect, play, and explore. They are a place for people of all walks of life to come together and experience their favorite art and music, a place to build community, a place for self discovery. People come to these events with an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a desire for self-improvement. We believe that live music events are a great place to start conversations about personal health and wellness, and that includes safe sex practices!” - Courtney, co-founder of The LowDown, Charlotte, NC

“We believe it’s important because nightlife and festival spaces are often where people are most open, vulnerable, and connected—but not always supported with resources. Not everyone feels comfortable seeking out clinical services, and many people may not encounter harm reduction messages in traditional healthcare settings at all. By bringing HIV and hepatitis prevention, condoms, and safer sex education into these spaces, we meet people where they are and make sexual health part of everyday culture. It’s about breaking stigma, normalizing care, and making sure everyone has the tools they need, wherever they are.” - Travis, organizer at SafeScene, Matawan, NJ

Partner Spotlight: Q&A Snippets

We asked a few of our partners why they got involved with ONE® On Stage:

“We discovered the ONE® on Stage program through the Pheel collaboration. Encouraging safe sex practices is an integral part of our mission, and we love working with a condom producer that cares about providing protection to the live music community, just like us! The live music community also welcomes marginalized communities that are disproportionately affected by STIs: providing free safe sex supplies to these communities helps prevent the spread of disease and encourages community wellness!” - Courtney, co-founder of The LowDown

“As a harm reduction organization, we wanted to be part of the ONE on Stage program because it amplifies the connection between sexual health and overall community wellness. HIV and hepatitis prevention are critical parts of harm reduction, and programs like this give us a platform to show that prevention is not limited to clinical settings. Joining allows us to center conversations about safer sex, access, and dignity while highlighting that harm reduction belongs everywhere people gather—not just in health centers.” - Travis, organizer at SafeScene, Matawan, NJ

“We found out about the ONE on Stage program when several of the bands in the roster played our stage. We like the idea, support the cause and are proud to be a part of this as a venue. Plus, we were already longtime customers/fans of ONE.”  - Matt, co-owner of Transplants Brewing Company & Venue, Palmdale, CA
