Alt Karaoke is not your average karaoke joint that you randomly stumble upon – they are a community that brings together metal heads and emo kids from all over to hang out, sing heavy music, potentially get scouted by a band, and to have a safe space to be themselves. The organization was created by their host Kat; she would Scream Whitechapel songs at karaoke bars and one day she posted it online. Many of the commenters talked about how they wish they could do that without feeling judged. After thousands of similar comments later, Alt Karaoke was born.
