ONE® Partners with Mr. & Miss. Phoenix Pride '24 for Project CONDOM

Here at ONE®, we believe in celebrating love in all its forms and championing the power of diversity and inclusion. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our exciting and continuing partnership with Phoenix Pride for Project Condom for a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture, unity, and pride.

In a world where visibility and acceptance are more crucial than ever, we are honored to support and amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community through this partnership. Our shared values of promoting sexual health through creativity, fostering open conversations, and celebrating every individual’s unique journey align perfectly with the mission of Phoenix Pride.

We interviewed Chase Cramer, a champion in the sexual health field and also known for his community title Mister Phoenix Pride. Check it out!

Tell us how the idea originated to have a condom fashion show!

The idea originated from my work with ONE® on my TikTok channel, ChaseinSexEd. I’ve been an affiliate with ONE® for about two years now and have immersed myself in their initiatives to promote safer sex. Public health is a passion of mine, and I wanted to bring it to the forefront of the LGBTQ+ community here in Phoenix. Coming from New York, I noticed a significant gap in the availability of testing services and a more conservative culture when it comes to discussing sex, which is reflected in the high rates of STIs. In 2018, Maricopa County reported 601.48 cases of chlamydia, 201.85 cases of gonorrhea, and 52.28 cases of syphilis per 100,000 people. When I won the title of Mister Phoenix Pride 2024, bringing Project CONDOM to Phoenix was a no-brainer. The community needs this initiative; it's a fun way of educating people and will help shift the culture to allow open discussions about sex.

Share the atmosphere of the event at Charlie’s PHX. What was the vibe? Who was in the audience? How long did it last?

The atmosphere of the event was upbeat, sexy, and diverse. The event brought together contestants and a crowd of folks who don’t typically share the same space. It was the idea of Charlie’s admin staff to have the contestants represent organizations rather than individuals, promoting their hard work in our community. We had participants from HIV testing services, leather and kink spaces, LGBTQ+ inclusive sports teams, services for the unhoused, and drag houses. The judging panel reflected this diversity, including experts in fashion design, leather and kink, human trafficking education, and professional domination. The event lasted three hours, packed with local drag entertainment involved in Phoenix Pride, showing that the organization is sex-positive and cares about the roots of the LGBTQ+ movement, especially in keeping the government out of our bedrooms.

Were there any giveaways or fun prizes? Sponsorships?

Absolutely! Thanks to the generous sponsorship of ONE, we received over 14,000 condoms, a case of condom tins, and two boxes of their newest condoms called ONE® Flex®. I also secured sponsors I work with on my TikTok. Empire Labs, the owner of Clone-A-Willy, donated two of their genital cloning kits. Your Health and Wellness, an LGBTQ-owned and operated primary care office, donated our first-place cash prize. Miss Flórez Institute of Nail Design donated our second and third place cash prizes. Bathmate donated their hydraulic penis pumps. I personally made pleather harnesses for buff teddy bears and donated five of them to the event. Charlie’s Phoenix generously donated their space, staff for setup and teardown, administrative help with organizing the event, and even created the promotional flier.

You’re Mister Phoenix Pride. Tell us more about your title and who you are.

The title of Mister Phoenix Pride 2024 is a community title, aimed at serving the community by raising funds for the Phoenix Pride Scholarship Program. This charitable program provides scholarships to high school seniors, current college students, and adult re-entry students in our community who identify as LGBTQ+ or are allies attending any type of FAFSA-accredited postsecondary school. The funds for this program are administered by the Arizona Community Foundation. Since its inception in 2005, created by Linda Hoffman, the Phoenix Pride Scholarship Fund has awarded $490,500 in scholarships. In 2024, we are slated to award $53,000 in scholarships. Thanks to ONE® and community efforts, we raised $1,669 for the program!

I perform as Dick Skinny and use the art of drag to support the community. I have an extensive background in performance as a two-time WGI open class finalist and ten years of experience in dance. Outside of drag, I am a proud trans man and Human Development major with experience as an HIV/STI tester, public health educator, adult retail consultant, and the current outreach coordinator at Your Health and Wellness. I’m also a part-time influencer, using my platform @ChaseinSexEd on TikTok to educate over 200,000 followers on sexual health services and adult products.

What words of wisdom do you have for those wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Lead with your heart first. Hold Project CONDOM because you care about your community. And never let anyone tell you the work isn’t important.

Rumor has it that you might host another Project Condom event in 2025! If it’s true, when can we expect to hear more details?

Absolutely! Bringing Project CONDOM to Phoenix was an incredible experience. Charlie’s Phoenix has already agreed to donate their space again, and we are looking to host our second event in April 2025!
