On December 1st, 2017 ONE® collaborated with #KnowUrStatus to hold their first ever HIV awareness event in support of World AIDS Day. The event was a success with all those involved informing the public of the importance of HIV testing as well as handing out some ONE condoms to promote condom usage in order to prevent the spreading of STIs.
#KnowUrStatus is an HIV awareness nonprofit movement that started in December of 2013 in Thibodaux, Louisiana by Shonda Broom—who saw an urgent need for #KnowUrStatus as Thibodaux’s HIV cases are on the rise. Thibodaux is also close in proximity to New Orleans and Baton-Rouge, two cities among the top 5 cities affected by HIV in the United States. The goals of the movement are to increase access to HIV testing and to prevent the spread of HIV through sex education and promoting condom use in the local community.
We are so excited to have been a part of such a passionate and informative event with #KnowUrStatus! To learn more about the movement you can visit their Instagram account: @knowurstatus.
